About Team Sierra

YOU are Team Sierra. You care about protecting the places we live and people we love, and you want to take action!

All of us on Team Sierra have come together to raise funds to benefit the Sierra Club-John Muir Chapter because we love the planet and we want to make a positive impact on our world. By picking an activity we love – running, dancing, biking, hiking, baking, or using a special occasion like birthdays, weddings or holidays -- we can share our passion for the environment with our friends and family and generate valuable donations for the chapter's work in Wisconsin. Making a difference for Wisconsin can be that easy!

We are glad you are here. Welcome! Let's get started!

About the Sierra Club-John Muir Chapter

The Sierra Club is the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization. What makes us unique is that we have the grassroots power to create change, with 3.5 million members and supporters, 64 state chapters, and over 400 local groups. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. More recently, we've made history by leading the charge to move away from the dirty fossil fuels that cause climate disruption and toward a clean energy economy.

The Sierra Club’s John Muir Chapter represents the organization’s 70,000 members and supporters in Wisconsin and has worked to protect Wisconsin’s environment and natural resources since 1963. Today, the John Muir chapter employs four staff in Wisconsin who work with hundreds of volunteers and volunteer leaders to advance the chapter’s conservation priorities. Current priority conservation efforts of the John Muir Chapter include:

Reducing Climate Change Threats by:
  • Moving from coal to clean energy
  • Stopping Tar Sands Pipeline expansion in Wisconsin
  • Advocating for clean transportation alternatives
Protecting Our Wild Wisconsin by:
  • Blocking destructive mining
  • Protecting native forests & wildlife
  • Protecting our water resources
