Dear Friends and Family -
I write this note on the last day of 2019 which has been bitter and sweet, but that's life - right? I am very proud that I was able to complete three new books in our Wildlife Adventures for Young Readers this year. I had multiple times to experience runs and adventures in nature. That's where I feel alive and that's why I am passionate about the Sierra Club.
As we close 2019 and welcome 2020, I chose a race that would push me to stay in shape when it's zero degrees in the morning, but would not be too too difficult. I also wanted to celebrate the new year with a plan of giving back. I have already raised $600 towards my goal of $1,000 so I only need $400 more!
I am in the midst of writing the seventh book in our collection - DeeDee's Acadia Adventure. Maybe you know Acadia is the only national park in all of New England and the chickadee is the state bird of Maine. I am pretty excited how well it is coming along. I already have a new artist for our 8th book about the horses of the Outer Banks that focuses on Hurricane Florence of 2018 and a foal named Valor that was born two weeks before the hurricane!!
Not all races are alike – some have a more challenging course, some have beautiful scenery, and this next race in Sedona that I’m taking on is one with a purpose. It feels good to have a race in place for the start of 2020 and knowing that I am raising funds to support the Sierra Club just as I did for the Zion Half Marathon in February of 2019.
After a number of difficult years (2008-2012) that included eight moves in four years, when I finally landed in Park City in my own home in 2013, I truly started to heal having all four seasons back in life. I LOVE opening up my front door each morning to witness the changes in the leaves or a new flower blooming or the first snow fall. It is especially exciting to feed the birds at my front deck or say "hello" to a passing moose!!
I don't always get to make a difference when I race, but with Team Sierra, I can. I care deeply about the environment and public lands, and the funds you donate will enable the Sierra Club to do things like:
• Provide cleaner, cheaper, energy.
• Protect our land, water, and air – from our backyards to the other side of the globe.
• Save animals being threatened with extinction.
• Make the outdoors accessible for all of us.
I know they’re going to take the funds we raised with YOUR help and use them to have the biggest impact on the issues we all care about. My goal is $1,000, please help me cross the finish line by making a donation. I only have $400 to go!!

With love, peace and happiness in 2020!
Thanks so much!
