“The idea of wilderness needs no defense, it only needs defenders.” Ed Abbey
I am here for two reasons.
I want to reach out to a community who is dedicated to preserving wild places, a community who is curious about science and the effects of climate change, and a community who knows there is no better way to engage in the environment than to be active within it. And for myself, I need to address this question of “where do I start”?
This page is set up to raise funds for the Sierra Club. I’ve been a member of the Sierra Club for over ten years and I believe they’re going to take the funds we raise and use them to have the biggest impact on issues we care about.
The funds you donate will enable the Sierra Club to do things like:
• Provide cleaner, cheaper, energy.
• Protect our land, water, and air – from our backyards to the other side of the globe.
• Save animals being threatened with extinction.
• Make the outdoors accessible for all of us.
My fundraising goal is $500. All funds go directly to the Sierra Club.
More important to me than any monetary investment is creating a community of people dedicated to protecting wild places. If you are willing and able to donate to the Sierra Club, by all means, please do. If not, please consider the other reason I’m here.
I've organized a conservation speaker series in the town of Estes Park, Colorado at Elkins Distilling Co, a local whisky distillery. Join us at a 'Wilderness & Whisky' event and have a drink and listen to a wide range of passionate speakers focused on conservation, science, public lands legislation, and ecology. 'Wilderness & Whisky' events are a place for people to come together, learn something new, update each other on current conservation issues, and engage with a broad community.
Now is a better time than ever to pry ourselves away from our screens, go outside, get the glad tidings, and come together at the end of the day and have productive conversations with each other.
Please contact me with interest and ideas.
