My name is Lynne Wummel, I am studying Spanish and Environmental Studies at Central Michigan University. This summer I will be biking 4,288 miles from Yorktown, Virginia to Astoria, Oregon. I want to raise $1 for every mile I bike to promote positive change within ourselves and our planet. There is a lot of beauty in the world, but there is also a lot of things that can be improved upon. My passion for the outdoors and nature was further ingrained during my thru hike of the Appalachian Trail last year where I went by the trail name "Lioness". I found the joy of going through life at a slower pace and was able to have a further realization for the importance of this Earth and all of its inhabitants. This bike tour will be a campaign for people to be good to one another and for people to be good to our planet. I know little of the world but I do know that I would like to see it, learn from it, and cherish all it has to offer. I want to see the world in a sustainable way that leaves minimal impact and I want my views to be earned because they always seem to hold a little more value that way. This bike tour began as a fun, exciting way to spend every minute of my summer outside in my element, rain or shine. I realized, however, I have the capacity within me (as do you) to do a great amount of good in the world, or at least do my best to. So with your help, lets be the change we wish to see in the world. It starts with you and me. Any and all donations are appreciated beyond belief but if your curiosity has taken you to this page and you are not able to donate, do not fret. Just be kind, be conscious, be compassionate, be patient, be loving. Treat your neighbor, a stranger, your best friend, and your enemy in the same manner, treat them as they are, a reflection of yourself. Pick up that piece of trash. Pick up that hitch hiker. Hold the door for the person behind you. Speak up about what you know in your heart to be true and fight against what you know to be wrong. Smile at strangers, do an act of kindness that you know will never be accounted for or repaid. Turn off your phone for a day, read a book, take a hike, climb a mountain, fly a kite, ride a bike, go swimming, do something, do anything. Open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds us, cherish it, bask in it and fight to protect it because if we don't, then who will? It's a good day for a good day, lets make it one.
Peace & Love
Lynne "Lioness" Wummel
I’m raising funds for the Sierra Club. Nature’s done good by me, and now it’s my turn to be doing good by nature.
I care about the places we live, and the funds you donate will enable the Sierra Club to do things like:
• Provide cleaner, cheaper, energy.
• Protect our land, water, and air – from our backyards to the other side of the globe.
• Save animals being threatened with extinction.
• Make the outdoors accessible for all of us.
I know they’re going to take the funds we raised and use them to have the biggest impact on the issues we care about.
My goal is $4,288, please help me cross the finish line by making a donation. And when you do, let me know why you care about doing good by nature in the “Words of Encouragement” box. I would love to hear from you!
This is important to me because the Sierra Club is making our communities better – they’re protecting natural places near cities and suburbs and working hard to ensure clean air and water for all. I want to help them succeed.
If you'd like to learn more about their mission, you can check out sierraclub.org, or participate in their campaigns at addup.org!
Thanks so much!
