    City Hike: Los Angeles

Thank you so much for helping to make the 2022 Team Sierra City Hike a success. More than 645 people hiked hundreds of miles all across the country and raised more than $48,000 to protect our planet.

City Hike is a nationwide hike aimed to get people outdoors and raise money to protect the planet. Experience nature, learn about local environmental and social justice issues, and see the impact of Sierra Club’s work right here in Los Angeles.

The goal: Hike as many miles as you can between September 23 – October 17. We’ve custom-designed a 5-mile route through Downtown to show you some of the cultural highlights and unique environmental aspects of this great city. Each weekend during the event period, we will lead a fun group outing to hike the route together.

Connect with the community on social media— share your stories, your photos, your hiking maps. You can increase your impact by asking family and friends to support you with a donation, to help work toward a future with a better, cleaner planet and a more just world. Your fundraising could even earn you some great prizes!

Donations through City Hike: LA will also remain local as a portion of all proceeds will go to the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter which has a proven track record in taking action to improve air quality and advocating for land conservation in Southern California.

Put your passion into action. Get engaged in your community and protect your planet. Take on a new challenge. Discover your city in a new way.

Sign up as an individual or as part of a team. Raise money to support Sierra Club and protect the planet and you can earn some great rewards.

Raise Money

The dollars you raise from your family and friends can make a big impact to fund local and national environmental initiatives. Plus, you can earn some great rewards!

Hike LA

As we hike our city, we fall in love with our community all over again. Our 5-mile route starts at LA’s Union Station and will visit important cultural landmarks to learn about the people who have shaped the city and who the city has been shaped for.

We’re witnessing a climate crisis, and we have already seen the impact of more extreme weather here in Southern California with longer and more intense wildfire seasons and record-breaking temperatures. And according to the UN, we may only have 9 years to prevent irreversible damage to our future. Sierra Club is about the air we breathe, the water we drink, the planet that sustains us and all of its inhabitants.

Sierra Club needs funding to continue fighting for meaningful action. City Hike is a tangible way to take local action in your community for global climate impact. The Hike may teach or remind you about climate and environmental justice issues in Los Angeles while highlighting some of the city’s most beautiful public resources. Read more about the Sierra Club’s Angeles chapter work in our community.

Fundraising for the Sierra Club is easier than ever. Through emails, social media posts, and other creative ideas, and with the help of our fundraising coaches and community, people have raised on average $250. We’re here to help!

The first 150 people to raise $150 get a City Hike tote bag, and the first 50 to raise $350 get a rad gear package (a $675 value!) from our partners.
