City Hike: Boston

YOU are Team Sierra. You care about protecting the places we live, and you want to take action!

We know that Team Sierra teammates thrive on big goals and meaningful work. In 4 short years, we've raised nearly $2 million dollars to support the Sierra Club — the nation's largest grassroots environmental organization — and its work protecting wildlife and wild places, advancing clean energy solutions, and making the outdoors more accessible.

We are glad you are here. Welcome! Let's get started!

The Sierra Club is the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization. What makes us unique is that we have the grassroots power to create change, with millions of members and supporters, 64 state and regional chapters, and over 400 local groups. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act. More recently, we've made history by leading the charge to move away from the dirty fossil fuels that cause climate disruption and toward a clean energy economy.

Massachusetts Sierra Club members and supporters are more than 100,000 of your friends and neighbors, working for environmental justice and climate action across the state. We have a growing outings program coupled with organized teams working on forest protection, transportation, toxics and plastics reductions, and clean energy. Inspired by nature, we work together to protect our communities and the planet.

Some initiatives of the Massachusetts Chapter include:

  • Advocating for just, ambitious, achievable climate action
  • Electing climate and environmental champions up and down ballot
  • Holding public officials accountable across the state
  • Educating, inspiring, and supporting local and frontline activists
  • Fighting to reduce and regulate plastics and toxics use
  • Protecting and enjoying Massachusetts lands and waters
