Most of my life was spent outdoors, whether I was horseback riding, biking, playing rugby, skiing, hiking, walking my pack of dogs or my all time favorite - fly fishing. I taught my three daughters, Kathy, Leigh, and Mairen an appreciation for the outdoors and most of the time they were outside and just as dirty as I was.
While living outside of Telluride, CO. on my ranch, I was the Commission Chair of the Telluride County Open Space Commission, www.sanmiguelcounty.org/286/Open-Space-Commission. During my thirteen year tenure, I was the founding father of the Land Heritage Program which has preserved 11,700 acres in conservation easements. I was also champion of a program which preserved 30,000 acres of magnificent San Miguel County countryside. I over saw a two year legislative process which resulted in the protection of over 20,000 acres of high country above Telluride Mountain Village and Ophir.
My legacy in San Miguel County, CO. is one of dedicated community service and open lands protection.
Now it is up to future generations to continue to hold the torch for our open spaces. Sierra Club is on the forefront of raising funds for the protection of our last remaining wild places.
Will you continue my legacy and help me reach my goal to raise $5,000?
Please give what you can, and if you'd like to learn more about what the Sierra Club is doing to make an impact now, visit sierraclub.org.

Thank you for carrying on my legacy!
P.S. A very generous donor is matching every dollar raised with Team Sierra through the end of the year. So if you feel inspired to create your own fundraiser, the impact will be doubled!
