I am so excited to be joining 10 other Team Sierra participants to run the Yosemite Half Marathon on May 13. And just to sweeten the deal, it's the Sierra Club's 125th Anniversary, so I'm raising $1,250 in their honor.
The Sierra Club is the reason that Yosemite exists as a National Park. We got our roots in land conservation and encouraging people to get outdoors. Today, we're still focused on those efforts, as well as initiatives like climate change, lobbying our government to put protections into place, and ensuring clean air and water.
Growing up, my mom would always tell us to "go play outside." So we'd spend our time building forts in the woods, playing capture the flag in our neighborhood, and chasing fireflies. I moved to the west coast 11 years ago, and that has transformed the way I think about the outdoors and our Earth. (You may have heard me ask you before, "are you going to recycle that?" or seen my toting my reusable mugs and bags.) On stressful days, I turn to the outdoors. In every way, my outdoor activity has shaped who I am today.
I did a fundraiser for my 33rd birthday in December, and THANK YOU if you donated then. I am fundraising again because with our current anti-environment administration, it's the most important time to be an advocate. The EPA's budget has been slashed, and that means organizations, like Sierra Club, are more important now that ever. Which is why I'm asking YOU to join my efforts.
If we don't protect our resources now, we'll lose them. I want to be able to enjoy things like our National Parks, but also continue to drink water, eat food, and have a home.
Please help me cross my finish line and make a donation by May 13.

P.S. I'm also accepting songs recommendations for my race day playlist. So when you make your donation, comment with a song that pumps you up!
P.P.S. I'll be posting training photos, so check back to see them!
