Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

I will be running the Orange County Half Marathon on May 7, 2017 to raise money for the Sierra Club. This year I want to do more to help preserve our forests and natural spaces. I have been visiting the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains with my family since I was four and I want to do everything I can to make sure those beautiful places will continue to thrive for my children and their children to visit. I'm so grateful to have you stand with me to defend these special places.

My goal is $1,000, please help me cross the finish line by making a donation. Even $1 and $5 donations will make a big impact! I know there are a lot of good causes out there so I am very appreciative of any amount you are willing to give.

This is important to me because the Sierra Club is not just focused on the Sierras, but also works to make our communities better – they’re protecting natural places near cities and suburbs and working hard to ensure clean air and water for all. I want to help them succeed.

Thanks so much for being a part of this! Your generosity is not only meaningful to me but will make an impact for generations to come.

Training Log:

January 14, 2017
I started my official half marathon training today at the Star Wars 10K in Anaheim! 6.2 miles down, 6.9 miles to go before May!

9 weeks to go until Race Day! I trained for 8 miles today after a temporary hiatus following a vacation in Mammoth. I decided to keep it simple, running up to the local track, did 16 laps around the track and then ran home. Not much scenery but I was able to power through some really great podcast episodes and ran alongside the Sheriff Ranger program that was training on the track at the same time. I'm looking forward to planning next week's run, which will be 9.5 miles.

12.8 miles today! I ran to Cal Tech and did a loop around the beautiful homes in Pasadena and San Marino. This is one of my favorite routes!

My last long run before the race! I ran 14 miles today, from my house up to the Rose Bowl! It was mostly an uphill incline since I was running towards the San Gabriel Mountains, so I'm hoping that helps me with the hills on the Orange County course. Once I got to the Rose Bowl, I did one lap around the loop to hit my 14 miles. I happened to crash the MS walk, which was happening at the same time at the Rose Bowl. It was fun running with the MS walk but I hope they didn't think I was crashing their charity! Luckily I already gave to the MS walk this year so I didn't feel too guilty.

As fun as the 14 miles was, I'm looking forward to tapering the next week or so! Thanks for your support!

RACE DAY! The day started with a bang... more like a cloudburst. We lined up at 6:00 a.m. to start the race and the skies opened up and poured heavy rain for most of the first three miles of the race! Luckily I found a discarded plastic bag to wear so I was able to maintain some warmth! The sun started coming out around mile 4 and things became a little easier. The clouds over the ocean were beautiful and I enjoyed the trek through the neighborhoods in Corona del Mar and Newport Beach. The course took us through the bluffs in the back bay, then eventually over to Costa Mesa. The finish line was at the Orange County Fairgrounds. I had plenty of David Bowie to help me make it through Mile 12-13! I was also really impressed with the volunteers who stood out in the crappy weather to hand out water and the residents in Newport who set up their own water and food stations in front of their homes. Overall it was a challenging but great race! Thank you to all of you who donated to my fundraiser and who took the time to read my running log! :) Only the true dedicated friends and family would have read this far! LOL! I'm going to keep my donation page up and running even though we've hit our goal, because the Sierra Club will need all the resources they can get to do the great work that they do! THANKS again!
