How much does it cost to join?
A one-time registration donation of $35. Fundraising is optional, and you can set up a fundraising page if you'd like to make a bigger impact and earn eco-friendly gifts.
What comes with my registration?
You'll receive an invitation to the 1.5 Challenge Facebook Group for community support, we'll send you a calendar where you can track and plan your activity, and more information on other things you can do to be proactive in the climate crisis.
How do I create a fundraising page?
You can create a fundraising page here.
What does a fundraising page look like?
Here's an example of a fundraising page.
I've never raised funds before, where do I start??
You can use our fundraising toolkit, or email email@example.com, and someone from our team will set-up a time to help you!
Where does the money go?
The money will support many of Sierra Club's initiatives like retiring coal plants, moving away from fossil fuels, and transitioning to clean energy, like solar and wind. Read more about the Sierra Club's mission.
Where do I do my 1.5 miles or 15 minutes?
This is a virtual challenge, so it's up to you! We suggest going outside (and bundling up if where you live is cold!) or doing these in your home. Please follow CDC safety guidelines for COVID-19.
How do I track my miles or workouts?
You can use your own tracking device, like Strava, a Fitbit, or any app of your choosing, and report back on our community Facebook group. You can keep track the old fashioned way with pen and paper. Or if you set-up a fundraising page, you'll have access to our endurance tracker. This tracker has the ability to track minutes, so if you are opting to do mileage, make sure you keep track of your time! The endurance tracker can sync up with Strava. We're excited to see the total number of minutes at the end of the Challenge!
